April Vacation Workshop: Pour, Drip, Splatter / Paint like an Abstract Expressionist

Description: This will be a messy one! We’ll begin by studying the works of famous American Abstract Expressionist painters like Helen Frankenthaler, Lee Krasner, Jackson Pollock and Franz Kline. We’ll discuss their revolutionary ways of applying paint to canvas, then we’ll make our own expressionist style paintings by dripping, drizzling, pouring, splattering, and scraping paint onto our surfaces. Instead of paintbrushes we’ll uses squeegees, pipettes and straws to manipulate pigment. It is sure to be a fun and messy experiment.
