Mixed Media Collage
Fridays, March 1-29, 2019. 1:30-4:30pm
Ages: 17 through adult (all levels welcome)
A beginner-friendly, fun, and highly creative approach to mixed media collage. Similar to the art process used by Eric Carle, in The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and other noted collage artists. Produce your own painted materials and deconstruct them by tearing or cutting them up. Reconstruct the pieces as lively compositions with added materials such as oil pastel, charcoal, pencils, fabric, printed materials, rice paper, stamping, stenciling, and more. All levels are welcome. The instructor will provided group demos and individual attention. Acrylic paints on paper are the basis of the work, applied to varied surfaces. Alternatives to brushes will be explored. Experimentation and personal themes are encouraged.
